Tie A Ribbon™ |
The North Jersey Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Tie a Ribbon ™ Campaign kicks off throughout northern New Jersey on October 1st every year. Eight foot long, hot pink ribbons will be tied to trees in towns, on school and corporate campuses and in neighborhoods where permission is granted. The Tie a Ribbon™ Campaign is held every October in recognition of breast cancer awareness month and spreads our life saving message of early detection. Each ribbon is accompanied by a hang tag which delivers the Komen 4 steps to breast health and an “in honor of” or "in memory of" opportunity. Every year we are in need of Volunteer Coordinators to oversee a county in our nine county service areas of: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren. Within each county captains and/or co-captains are assigned to oversee a specific town. Each Captain writes a letter to the town’s mayor and committee members requesting permission to tie ribbons on trees. Captains are responsible for recruiting a team to assist with tying the ribbons and ensuring the ribbons are taken down by October 31st. This is a great opportunity to have fun with family and friends and join in our largest breast cancer awareness campaign of the year. More details to follow. |
