Breast Cancer Education and Screening Program

Your Dollars at Work: A Snapshot
This program provides breast cancer outreach and screening services for women in Jersey City, specifically African American women.

In Their Own Words…
MFHN’s Breast Cancer Education and Screening Program (BCESP) complements its existing Cancer Education and Early Detection (CEED) Program through breast cancer outreach and screening services for women in Jersey City, specifically African American women.  The goal of the BCESP is to reduce the incidence of breast cancer among women within the community. The program reaches out to women through faith-based organizations, and staff who are culturally competent to increase screening services and breast health education. The program emphasizes prevention and early detection; to accomplish this goal, MFHN collaborates with a variety of community-based organizations to provide outreach and education to women in Jersey City. Free mammograms and/or ultrasounds are provided to women who are 39 years of age and under who are not eligible for the NJCEED program. Women found with abnormal results are referred to area hospitals for further treatment.
