Awards will be given to qualifying teams and individuals

Teams' Awards:
- Team Awards will be given in three categories: Community Team, Education Team and Corporate Team
- Awards will be given in each category to the team that has the most amount of participants
- Awards will be given in each category to the team that has raised the most amount of pledges/donations
- An award will be given out to the Team with the Best Team T-Shirt. Check Team Page for details

Individuals' Awards:
Individual runners and walkers are eligible for great prizes based on TOTAL pledges collected online by May 31, 2010 or by mail (May 25th postmark date). Check back in January to view prize items! Pledge prizes do not include registration fees.
Top male, female, survivor fundraiser each receive a round trip air transportation on American or American Eagles to any US destination

Online Pledging
When you register for the Race online, your own personal webpage is automatically created for you. You can customize this page by uploading your own photo and writing your own text about the reasons you are participating in the Race. You can send emails from your webpage to friends, colleagues and family asking them to sponsor you by donating with a credit card online!
There are three ways to donate online:
- Make a pledge donation for a particular runner or walker.
- Make a general pledge donation to a specific Team.
- Make a general donation to the Race, (not to a specific participant or group.)

Paper Pledge Form
Download the 2011 pledge form. List donations on the pledge form and indicate total amount. Make check payable to: Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure®. Pledge donations must be submitted with a completed pledge form and can be submitted at the Pledge Tent on Race day or mailed to Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure, 785 Springfield Avenue, Summit, NJ 07901 by May 31, 2010. Please do not combine pledge money with Race entry fees.

Your participation in the 2011 Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure® is the first step toward helping us cross the finish line… to a World Without Breast Cancer.
Next is raising pledge dollars. Fundraise online by accessing your Race Center and emailing your friends, family and coworkers.
Even beginners find getting pledges easy - just ask! People will be happy to support our vision of a world without breast cancer.
Here are some tips to help you with your fundraising:

Start asking for pledges early!

Set a goal and tell people what it is. Let everyone know that you’re training for the Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure and need their donations to help find the cures for breast cancer.

Research your company’s matching gift program. You could double your money!

Remember to thank every individual who helps you reach your goal. Let them know they’re making a difference.

Provide updates - let people know how much you’ve raised and how close you are to reaching your goal.

Add the Race for the Cure® boundlessFUNDRAISING™ Tab to your Facebook page. The app will insert a fundraising thermometer on your Facebook page so friends can make pledges in your support and follow your fundraising progress.
It's easy, just log in. Then, click the Fundraise with Facebook button in your Participant Center to install.
Things You Should Know
- Up to 75% of our net revenue is used to support local community-based organizations in northern New Jersey that provide breast health education, screening, treatment and other services to underserved and uninsured members of our communities. Additionally, 25% of every dollar we raise funds peer-reviewed national clinical research programs.

You Should Ask
- People you see daily, especially those who know you’re participating in the Race. So many lives have been touched by breast cancer, you will find lots of support.
- People in your phone, address and email lists - everyone you know who would encourage you in your commitment to the fight against breast cancer.
- Others as you think of them. People will be honored to be part of your effort.
Remember to ask Family, Friends, Co-workers, Customers/clients, Vendors, Your banker, Your doctor(s)
Ways to ask
- Via email - When you register, you receive your own personal Race Center (as long as you’ve provided your email address). Use this tool to create an address book and email all of your friends, family, coworkers, etc.
- You Can:
- Customize your message
- Collect pledges by email
- Get pledge payments via credit card
- Forward emails to others, expanding your reach!
- Via Letter -
Send letters to people on your list without email.
- Through others - Ask your parents, friends, spouse or significant other to pass the word around to their friends and coworkers.
Pledge Amounts Be clear about your goal. Ask everyone to give something and make it clear that no amount is too small. Every contribution will make a difference — even if it's only $5.00.
- Remember, $10.00 each from 10 people is $100.00!
- You're not raising money for yourself. You're raising money to eradicate breast cancer
- Every pledge you collect makes a difference!
- Be creative and have fun!
Be the first one on your list and personally pledge MORE than the cost of the registration
- Ask everyone you know (partner, spouse, friend, relative, neighbor, doctor, dentist or local merchant) to sponsor you (65% of people donate their time and money simply because they were asked)
- Use our new Facebook application to ask your FB friends for donations
- Write an inspirational letter to family and friends and tell them why you are participating. Be sure to let them know that 75% of the net funds raised stay in the northern New Jersey community. Learn more about breast cancer facts in New Jersey.
- Ask your Human Resource department if they have a matching program
- Ask your Human Resource department if you can put a story in the company newsletter and ask fellow employees to join you in the fight.
- Speak to your manager to implement a “Pink Sneaker Day” or “Jean Day” and collect donations to support you and the event.
- Ask your Human Resource Department if they can implement a company wide challenge by having departments or floors compete against each other.
- Coins for Change- Put out a pink can at your desk, office lobby, kitchen and put lose change in every day.
- Hold a potluck wine and cheese tasting, set a small fee to attend and charge for food and refreshments you provide.
- Clean out your garage and closets. You will be surprised what you can sell. Even try ebay and donate your proceeds to your efforts.
- Call all of your most loyal and past donors and ask if they can help this year by increasing their usual gift, just by a bit! Often, supporters will contribute a little more, if you ask!
High School Students
- Can challenge sports teams to a game, teachers against students or a scheduled varsity game against another team. Make it a Pink Game and ask for donations.
- Hold a Dance and charge admission to support your team. See if you can get Goody Bags donated from local merchants
- Design and sell a team T-shirt and have the proceeds go directly to the team effort.
- Ask the science department to compete against the math department.
- Ask the athletic director engage other schools to a challenge on Race Day.
