Teens for the Cure is a special registration type for the 2012 Race. Many of our teens know the fear and disruption caused by a breast cancer diagnosis in their families. Others have felt the impact of the disease through their friends’ families. Through our focus on fundraising, awareness and education, Teens for the Cure empowers teenagers with the knowledge that they can make a difference, the confidence to take action, and the very real hope of an end to breast cancer in their lifetime.
Here are some special ideas for high school students to raise money and awareness. For more ideas or to get connected with other Teens who have signed on to make a difference with Komen North Jersey, contact us at race@komennorthjersey.org.
High School Fundraising Ideas
1. Can challenge sports teams to a game, teachers against students or a scheduled varsity game against another team. Make it a Pink Game and ask for donations.
2. Hold a Dance and charge admission to support your team. See if you can get Goody Bags donated from local merchants
3. Design and sell a team T-shirt and have the proceeds go directly to the team effort.
4. Ask the science department to compete against the math department.
5. Ask the athletic director engage other schools to a challenge on Race Day.
6. Every dollar makes a difference - thank you for everything you do! Together we will find the cures.
