General Team Answers

1. Anyone can be on your team. You can ask family members, co-workers, community friends or a combination thereof. All age groups are welcome. We ask that if you have small children on your team, you sign up for the 1.5k mile fun run/walk and start close to the end of the line so everyone can have a pleasant experience.

2. Yes, children are welcome on the team and we encourage you to have your sons, daughters, nieces and nephews participate. There are children sized t-shirts available and Kids Expo area to visit after the Race with face painting, sand art and much more. For teens, there is I AM the Cure educational expo area for them to visit after the Race.

3. It is best that all team members register online because it is the most efficient, cost-effective, environmentally friendly way to register. It also helps the North Jersey Affiliate direct more funds to the mission. If a team member is not able to use a computer, he/she can register with a paper entry form but MUST indicate the team name in the space provided to get credit as being a team member.

4. Yes, you have the ability to register all family members under one registration, but it is recommended to register each individually. This way, each person will receive their own login/password to make it easier for each participant to solicit for pledge/donation dollars.

5. If you have any questions regarding the Team or the Race, please call 908-277-2904 x 30 or e-mail teams@komennorthjersey.org If you get an answering machine, please leave a detailed description of your questions along with your phone number. We will try to return your call within 24 hours.

9. All team members will have the option of having their shirt shipped, which is an option during your registration process, for an additional $10.00. Or, T-shirts and bibs will be available for pick-up on April 23 and 24 (details to follow) or on Race Day. The choice is yours. However, it is recommended that shirts get picked up in advance. Each participant is entitled to a t-shirt and race bib. Survivors get an additional Pink Race shirt and cap.

The team with the largest number of participants within each category is eligible for a prize, and the team that raises the most in pledge dollars within each category is eligible for a prize. Additionally, the winning team in these categories will be acknowledged on the Komen North Jersey Affiliate website and newsletter. Race Day Answers

21. If you choose to go together, you can pick a convenient place to meet and travel by one of the many transportation methods available to you. You can also hire a private bus to transport you directly to the Race site. However, it is not necessary to arrive together because there is a Team Meeting area.

22. Only the award winning teams will have professional photographs taken on Race day. This is completely optional and those top teams will be notified a week before the Race. Otherwise, we recommend you pick a location and time for all of your team members to meet and designate a team member to bring a camera.

23. Unfortunately, we don’t have the room to accommodate all teams wishing to bring a tent. Tents will be offered to teams having 200 or more participants. Otherwise, it is the teams’ responsibility to bring their own tent, and you must notify us at racechair@komennorthjersey.org if you are doing so. Otherwise, there is plenty of room for teams to meet and the area will be easily identified on the race day map.

24. Your team will meet at the Team Meeting area. Alphabetical flags will be visible for everyone to see. Please choose in advance of Race day under which letter you will meet your team.

25. No, team members can either walk or run on their own, with a group of people on your team or with friends that they meet along the way. We do ask that any team member with small children in strollers or joggers sign up for the 1.5k fun walk and begin the run/walk at the end of the line.

Financial Answers

26. Yes, your company or an individual can pay the registration fee for the team. Simply call 908-277-2904 x 19 or e-mail registration@komennorthjersey.org and indicate how many people you want to register. Your credit card number will be taken and a code given to you. If you pay for 25 people, then that code is valid for 25 registrations. If you need additional registrations, you will need to call again and pay for the additional registrants. Each participant will need to register independently. You will have to give those 25 people the code. When registering online, there is a question asking you if you have a discount code. Please enter the code in that box.

27. Yes, you can pay for your entire team online but you must first call 908-277-2904 x 19 to get a discount code. After you receive the code you can give it to anyone you would like on your team. Once they have registered, they will need to input the code in the “discount code” box on the registration form.

28. Each individual will pay $30.00 to run or walk. This fee is for both children and adults as well. The fee is $40.00 for those participants who choose Sleep in for the Cure®.

29. No, as a member of the team you do not have to select that option. A week before Race day, your captain will pick up your teams shirt and bib. Survivor shirts and caps will also be available at that time. The team captain will be responsible for distribution of the shirts and bibs. In honor of and in memory of back signs will be included with your t-shirt and bib. Please fill out the signs and proudly wear them on your back on Race day.
