Understanding Breast Cancer
Making sense of the complex world of breast cancer can be overwhelming. Whether you are facing a personal diagnosis or that of a friend or loved one, there are many steps you can take to help you better understand the many faces of this disease. Learn about your personal risk and ways to take an active role in your breast health. Read about being a survivor, or offering support to a breast cancer survivor. Find local resources available to assist you. Becoming informed and empowered is the first step in battling this disease.

ASCO Update (Dr. Eric Winer, June 2010)
The annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) was held in Chicago from June 4-8, 2010. Each year, the ASCO meeting is the largest gathering of cancer professionals, with approximately 30,000 individuals in attendance. Education is a key component of the mission of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to bring about community change and empower women with life-saving breast health and breast cancer information and resources. A principal strategy of Komen North Jersey's education programs has been to establish multiple partnerships and collaborations between and among the National Organization, sister Affiliates, National and State public policy groups and Legislators, community-based organizations with similar missions, major cancer centers and Affiliate Grantee organizations.
