The women and men portrayed in this photo essay generously agreed to share their stories to heighten awareness of the disease that touched their lives. Breast cancer survivors now comprise the largest group of cancer survivors in the United States. The improvement in survival reflects progress in diagnosing breast cancer at an earlier stage and advances in treatments – a living testament to the power of society and science to save lives. As part of a public awareness campaign, the North Jersey Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, in partnership with PNC Wealth Management and Roche, proudly presents Journeys of Courage. We hope that all who view this exhibit will be moved by the strength and courage of our heroes and will be inspired to join us in our promise to end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all, and energizing science to find the cures. |
